I had to look, but according to dA - I've been her SIX years.

Highs and lows - seing great art, and sifting through the chaff, the debacles over sharing/DDs, etc. Yet it is still a place for a free expression - art of all shapes and kinds - a bit of flavor for all my tastes.

I looked back to see what my first :+fav: was - and appropriately it was a shoot with :iconsilvergrey:
bytestudio.deviantart.com/art/…

Since then - it's pretty easy to tack my tastes - Colors, Emotions, and Faces...

I think what I enjoy most though is the artistic support and camaraderie.

Thank you all.

After a lot of trials challenges - things appear to be headed in a better direction... both in career and creative opportunities.

I looked up the details - and for almost exactly 4 years, I've been trying to put together a specific look. It's technically challenging but it looks like I'm in the right place and time to actually do it. Now I just need to pick the locations - which is likely to be the hard part. Seattle is a little lacking in the esthetic I want - and where I live is even worse! And what I wouldn't give to work with some of the people I watch on dA...

Alright kids - back to work (both real and creative!) - but I wanted to stop in and say thanks for keeping an eye on my work.

Is it possible to even do this?

I need between 6 and 9 models.
Different Colors,
Different Sizes,
Different Shapes,
Different Textures.

No photoshop/editing of the model (Just framing/cropping and B&W conversion? Maybe some texture/background...
No Makeup. (except for one shot of each model.)
No hairstyle - just the natural look.

The trick is finding 6-9 GOOD models- maybe GREAT models...

I think I know one who will do this.

It's different from anything I've done.

Let's Do This.

I'm selling my Wacom(s) (yes I have more than one) - and upgrading a little bit - then hopefully (eventually) upgrading a LOT (someday!)

I'm selling my Wacom Cintiq 13HD - it's like new - original boxes and packaging, no damage - it's pristine!
I LOVE it - and I use it all the time (the cintiq display/tablet is a dream for sketching and photo editing!) - I just want a little more.

If you're interested, it will probably sell for $950.00 (plus shipping) - and will go on Craigslist soon.
If you're local (Seattle/puget sound) we can probably arrange to hand it off easy.)

SOMEDAY I want the 24" display, but I have to settle a few accounts for that to happen ;)

other updates -
Photography has been a little slow lately - I'm shooting less, but hopefully "better" - and trying to focus on one or two creative projects like games/concept art, etc.

As always  - thank you for your watches and favs - Art isn't much if you don't have people to share it with - and hopefully we'll have some new stuff to share very soon!

* Washington and West Sound Fashion Editorial Concept. (2014) *

- - DESIGNERS - WARDROBE - FASHION - MILLENARY - JEWELRY - -

Planning ahead for 2014 -
I have a creative project in mind to showcase local skill-sets and talent - and I am currently looking for designers/designs to frame the shoots around. The overall concept will be flexible but will provide a cohesive background for the individual ideas for different designers/etc.

I am looking for people who are interested in collaborating (working!) to make a unique team-based presentation that will challenge us, and allow us to create what will hopefully be a wonderful project - with obvious preferences to getting the results published.

This is a collaborative project - no money will change hands (unless something wonderful happens??)
EVERYONE involved will get copies of the work.

NOTE : The final project will have to go unpublished until it is released - however, we can also shoot "catalog" sets for use to showcase your designs while we produce the full Concept.

What I'm looking for :
Skilled people to team up with who have a professional demeanor and dedication to the project, who are looking for some creative freedom/input and want to challenge themselves.

I expect this project to take at least a couple of shoots - due to location/travel, weather, and hopefully the variety of designers who want to take part.

Models will be chosen later by the team - with emphasis on professionalism and appropriate looks for the concepts.
I will probably require a test shoot with each model to evaluate looks/etc for specific shots (easy stuff - you can be involved if you want - or just see the results.)

I'm looking for a MIX of Alt/Creative/Fashion concepts - ANYTHING is open for discussion - we'll see what we can make work.

Email me if you have questions or want to be a part of this.

Happy Holidays!

With the advent of iOS7 - I am even less satisfied with the presentation of images in my portfolio on my iPad. Pretty obvious that the default apps try to provide "best all-around" usage - but they're not meeting my needs...

So I'm going to build my own - and I'm looking for your input. More heads are better than one (generally) - and if I'm going to do this - I don't see why other people can't have some input.

Focusing primarily on iPads (perhaps Android if there's enough interest) - Focusing on Portfolio Presentation -

What would YOU want to be able to do in an app on an iPad?

If you have any ideas/requests/suggestions - please let me know!

I'm headed to see family for the holiday and won't be online - so I'm taking a quick minute to say Thank YOU.
NOTE: yes I know it's a US holiday - but soo many people on this list are NOT american that it really doesn't matter. :)

I try to make sure that people KNOW they are appreciated at or near the time when I appreciate them - for whatever reason that is.

But - because I probably don't say it enough:

THANK YOU. (in no particular order..)

Thank YOU for being my Wife. (She knows who she is... LOL!)

Thank YOU for being a Friend, and treating me like a friend.

Thank YOU for being my muse - even though it surprised me when I it.

Thank YOU for making me laugh. (At you, With you, For you.)

Thank YOU for creating pictures that make my heart stop. (Check my favorites - that's a pretty good list)

Thank YOU for making music to keep my ears busy while I work.

Thank YOU laughing at me, with me - and thank you for NOT laughing at me sometimes too.

Thank YOU for supporting my creative efforts.

Thank YOU for pushing the edge of the envelope - and making ME try harder.

Thank YOU for helping me be healthy.

Thank YOU for reading this.

oh - and thank YOU for buying my game: bytestudiogames.com/bytestar/

Hope you have a great holiday!

With the imminent release of my first mobile game (It's being reviewed for the major app stores) - My thoughts turn to "What's Next?"

The first game was a simple test to see what can/can't be done, how things work, and how the difference device families handle things. Lots of Learning, some of it painful - some of it absolutely hilarious… More on that game in a couple of days when it launches!  (Including concept art, etc.)

NEXT:
I want to jump into the deep end - more immersive, challenging and FUN gameplay - and see where the platforms can take us.

I have questions and I figure this is a good a place as any to ask for a semi-random cross-sample of people who probably enjoy a little "escapism".

So - If you play games, preferably on a mobile device - (or if you have opinions about why you DON'T play games on mobile devices?)

What genre/type of games do you play?

What genre/type of games would you LIKE to play?

What esthetic (look and feel) do you LOVE (or wish that there was more of?)

There are a lot more questions - but I'd prefer to handle them via email in order to get more direct feedback - if you're interested, please let me know!

Time...
Game 1 is in final testing, Games 2 and 3 are ready to code, Game 4 is ready for research... Games 5-10 are still being concepted - and (go figure) I have two other ideas I need to work on...
(None of that includes any photography.)

Fingers/Hands/Arms...
If I had another (functional) set of arms I could do twice as many things at once!

Computers...
If I had two extra arms - I might need 4 computers - I spend a large portion of the (wasted) tim waiting for things to compile/process/compress for various platform dependancies... (Maybe a new Mac Pro when they come out?)

Photography:
waiting on some submissions before I can post some of the fun shoots with ~Lizbit -
And just finished another hat shoot wit hBoring Sidney, Brittany and Maeve!  - will post those soon.

And I just noticed it's time for halloween... and I'm not shooting ANYTHING creepy/scary/weird... Wish I had time to fix that.

oh - and as soon as Apple, Amazon, Google and Microsoft approve the game - I'll let you know so you can download it.

NEXT :
Time to get modeling and rendering a human character for one of the games... Just a prototype, but I have to start somewhere on the proof-of-concept for the horror story... still have to figure out what the character will look like - (If you have suggestions - I'll open to ideas.)

Ric
The trip was AWESOME - HARD work, lots of learning and training - but well worth it.

I've ported the app from iOS to Andorid, and now Windows Phone 8 (got a free phone for doing it!)

Managed to connect with people from some (huge) companies - and even managed to draw the attention of a recruiter... more on THAT as it happens.

Total Bonus?

:iconlittlebitlizbit:

- I'm still editing photos, but I can whole-heartedly say : If you get the chance - Work with her. You will NOT regret it!
(We managed to fit in FOUR shoots!!) Refreshingly creative and energetic - I'm not sure how I draw these people - but she built a spear for the shoot while we were driving to the shoot. (Not easy in a 911!) :)
In addition - Vancouver is refreshingly friendly to shoot in!

Now back to the grindstone : Writing Singletons, New Classes, and filling my brain with OOP! gearing up for launch. (and then immediately into Project #2.)

More as it happens!

and thanks for taking the time to read this..

Old dogs CAN learn new tricks.

Leaving tomorrow for Vancouver BC. It's actually for WORK...
But it's some of the funnest and coolest work I've done, so it's not like I'll be suffering...

Oh - and I get to shoot with someone from dA FINALLY... Can Not WAIT (but ya know - NO PRESSURE!!!) :)

Damn excited about the next week -

Which leads me to the next questions :

Would you rather be:
A.) the "main character" in a movie poster?
or
B.) have a game character modeled after you.

Neither would actually be "you" - but like a body double...

More when I get back...

Be good while I'm gone!!!

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. -- Bruce Lee (November 27, 1940 - July 20, 1973)

Significant wisdom.

Time to throw myself off this one onto the next challenge!

Are you on a plateau ?
What are you going to do about it?

This was a fun way to spend some time :)

The instructions:
1. Go to the "Browse" function here on dA - Choose "Popular All Time" - and then chose your media/style of choice (Mine: Photography - People & Portraits )
2. Look at them all :) - or maybe just the first 100000 or so?. (thumbnail view is fine. )

For fun:

REMEMBER THIS :
Per the "About" page here on dA :
"Explore over 261 million original works of art"

261 MILLION works!!!

Find your first contribution.  ( I have one under 4040 (Shot) and the next around 8500 (Shot and Edited)! )
Find the first (new) image that takes your breath away.
Find the first image that you remember inspiring you or your work.
Find the first image that makes you want to quite dA.
Find the first image that makes you laugh.

The fun parts:
Seeing people I know and have worked with in the top 50!!)
Seeing seeing MANY people I know with images < 10,000. ("above" mine)

What does it all mean ?

Nothing.

It gives me hope and sets a perspective.

We are not the best.
We are not the worst.

We are who we are - we can always make ourselves better, and we will always have moments where we are worse.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm cramming too much information into my head and I need to get back to learning.

Go Create Something Amazing!

Two ideas :

Dark and intense. Tattoos, Piercings, etc. Brutal and Obvious. Punch-in-the-face fun?

Clean and perfect. Contrasts, Textures, Abstract and Suggestive. Stare-at-it and admire?

Where does one go first?

Probably need to ask someone to shoot... that's always a good start.

The goal:
To stimulate creativity, and provide a unified starting point for a global "community" project.

The core idea:
Obvious Contrast.
Think Yin-Yang - two of a kind - or -  two creations that are visually and obviously divergent/different - but can be opposite or complementary - Black/white, good/evil, etc.

The end result: (What you should end up with to share)
A matched pair of contrasting pieces of art by each individual/artist/team/group/colony.
(you're welcome to create as many pairs as you wish.) one for each part of the contrast.

What you do :
Make some cool art. Your Style, Your Idea. Work with people you like - exchange ideas, and create the art.

Who can do it:
Anyone.  Anywhere. There are no restrictions.

What's in it for you:
Art. Creation. Fun. Warm-fuzzies.

When is it due:
When it's Done- I'm suggesting a tentative "share" date of April 30, 2013. That's open to suggestions and updates.
At that Point - depending on the amount of people involved - I'll offer to compile a free ebook with the art/credits - simply to compile the art into a central "package".
There are LOTS of options for centralizing sharing, but trying to keep this as simple as possible for now - if it takes off - we can think about making a LULU or MAGCLOUD book at cost, etc.

Who wins?
Everyone. The artists create, the public gets to see cool art. There is NO judging or comparative selection (aside from the normal legal/moral restrictions, etc.)

What the heck am I talking about:

1. A photographer can have an idea for this topic, they can ask models to pose for them and shoot it their way -
2. Models can ask a photographer to shoot their idea so that it comes out as the models vision -
3. MUA can bring ideas and the team can produce the MUA's vision -
4. Designers can bring the idea/wardrobe and we can work from that-
5. Painters can paint their ideas -
6. Poets can write a set of matched contrasting pieces

Get crazy with it - use your imagination!!

Find a friend in the same medium (photographer-and-photographer, model-and-model. mua-and-mua, painter-and-painter) - then SHARE your idea - and see how the two of you create different concepts from that same idea!
Challenge your ART - this isn't about the budget or complexity - there's nothing to win - just do the best you can.

Any group/team/individual is welcome to create multiple pieces of work. (If it gets out of hand - we may ask you to pick the favorite pair).

The Rules:
Not much - Create your own art - respect the team and give credit where credit is due - share the art, learn, grow, and have fun!

Hopefully, this gives people the jumpstart to create and share art -  and also to help others create and share THEIR art.

******
If you have questions or suggestions regarding this - feel free to ask me.
******

Please share this - get other people creating - that's the second most important part (aside from creating art)

Who is interested in a collaborative, community based CREATIVE challenge? Models, Photographers, MUA, Designers, etc. are ALL welcome. Not a competition - the only prize is the are you help create - and perhaps - if everyone agrees to the concepts - we'll do a little show or submit it to some magazine. Please note - I consider this a challenge as I think it will take some skill/depth to do well, not for the feint of heart. ;)

Details to follow - If you're interested - let me know and I'll keep you informed!

We will be eating our feast on Saturday, when everyone in the families can get together.

This turkey-thursday I get to stay in and relax (!!) in the peace and quiet (LOL!) - probably drawing and writing code - and since most of the interweb netizens will be offline festivizing - I'd like to start early with this:

Thank you.

Thank you for putting up with my sometimes successful and often crazy attempts to create ART .

Thank you for showing me such a wide variety of imagery (good and bad) from which to learn.

Thank you for your input/suggestions/laughs and compliments - they are all truly appreciated.

Now will someone PLEASE pass the gravy???

Have a happy and Thankful day!
