Subs put their art on the sail, or conning tower, at least back in WWII. The higher-ups in the chain of command (both German and American) tried to stop it but the subs skippers allowed it. The the sailors liked it, and no one would seriously challenge an expression of pride in their boat from front line submariners. A retro WWII era Holly on a sub? Instant fave!
Actually that damn sub goes by enough that it's just "Really cool" - now "Holy F-ing Sh!t!!! cool " The light was so bad that I didn't even run over and shoot the "close-ups" - instead, I stepped out my front door and braced against a porch column and shot... (Lazy huh?)
